![]() However, especially for newer synthesists the Hydra is known to have a bit of an intimidating learning curve. Some people will complain about digital vs analog, but the Hydra is very competent at replicating classic analog behavior. The Hydra on the other hand is a powerful digital chameleon that has abundant tools to be able to design sounds on an extremely specific and granular level. It can do basic, crude, FM, and the effects are nice, but only having two LFOs (and only one per voice with the other being global) and only two envelopes mean that while it can do classic sounds, having independent control of multiple perimeters (for example the amp, filter, and pitch) isn't possible since you only have two sources. It's got more modulation than the average bear, it's still a Sequential synth after all, but it's generally more focused on classic oscillator into classic filter with traditional modulation. The Take 5 is a cut down, simplified version, or Sequential's flagship modern poly synths.
